Why the default city field causes problems
Magento 2 asks customers to type their city by hand in checkout and in address forms. People misspell names or write the same city several different ways, and your address data gets messy. Stores that deliver only to certain areas also have no built-in way to turn away addresses outside those areas. Those orders get placed anyway and cancelled later.
How the extension fixes it
Adding a city dropdown to Magento 2 checkout and customer address forms means customers choose a city instead of typing one. You manage the list from the admin panel, and each city belongs to a region, so the list matches the region the customer selected. If you only serve certain areas, add only those cities and the dropdown will offer nothing else. That makes this a simple Magento 2 service area extension too.

Can I restrict Magento checkout to specific cities?
Yes. You decide which cities appear in the checkout dropdown, and customers can only choose from that list. If you deliver only in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, add those three cities and no other city will appear as an option. That blocks orders to addresses you don't serve.
